Evaluation 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Whilst creating my music magazines I only used a few technical equipment, I used:

·      A camera to take my images and I learnt how to use the camera and take better images for example how to focus the shot properly.
·      Apple mac computer, I learnt how to upload the images from the camera onto the computer and how to save things in the correct files.
·      Photoshop- I used Photoshop for the preliminary task but I didn’t know how to work it properly and I also didn’t have many skills on using it but by doing this main task I now know how to do it and I have gained skills in using it.
·      Blogger- by using this I have been able to share my work and also look at how other people are getting on to know what standard I am up to.

Evaluation 5: how did you attract/address your audience?

On my front cover I have done my masthead big so that it attracts the audiences eye. I have also put sell lines such as ‘Exclusive news’ to catch the readers attention. On the bottom of the front cover I also have more sell lines such as ‘Free’ and ‘Plus. The last thing I included was question ‘Are all time low doing an EXCLUSIVE tour?’ to get the reader thinking and making them want to read the magazine to find out.

On my contents page I have used one large image, a few smaller ones and also the free posters included inside which will draw the readers attention in to the magazine. Another image I have used is a screen shot of the double page spread which will catch the readers attention and make them want to read it. I have used logos such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as these will draw attention to the reader as my target audience are around the age that use a lot of social media websites. I have again used a question ‘Are they splitting up?... Will this be their last tour?...’ on top of a picture of ‘Mania’ this will then attract the readers to make them want to read on.

On my double page spread I have used one large image which will get the readers attention straight away as it has a big bold question underneath ‘Are mania splitting up!?...’ with smaller images underneath of them rehearsing and having fun, by having this and catching the readers eye it will make them want to read the ‘exclusive’ interview to find out all of the latest news. On the bottom of the page it says that there are ‘New exclusive interviews in every issue’ this will make the audience want to go out and buy it so they have all of the latest about their bands they love. Also on the bottom there is up coming tour dates, with all the dates and arenas so this will give the audience more information so they know when and where the concerts are, and it links to the front cover as there is a chance for them to win 6 tickets for the tour, so if they have entered the competition they have a wide range of places they could go to and this attracts the audiences attention a lot.

Evaluation 4- Who would be the audience for your media product?

My target audience for my music magazine would be aged between age 13 up to there late teens maximum age 20, this is a range but I believe that it is suitable for my type of magazine, this would be backed up as I think that the price is reasonable and it is for both male and female. Another thing is the genre I have to think about when considering my target audience so it would be people who love rock and band type music.

Evaluation 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I could use a range of different social media websites to advertise my music magazine as my target audience are around the ages who mainly use social media website such as ‘Facebook’ ‘Twitter’ and ‘Instagram’. I could also use music magazine payers such as ‘Bauer Media’.  Bauer is Europe’s largest privately owned publishing group, it is a mulit-platform they are largely viewed and respected as industry innovators. It advertises music magazines such as Kerrang this shows the success that this publishing group can bring, as Kerrang is known largely. This would work well for my music magazine because both Kerrang and my music magazine have the same genre. However it does cost a lot so they are some of the things that would have to be considered. Also to start off by getting the magazine known it would be good to consider giving a certain amount away for free.

Evaluation 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

As you can see both of the genres are rock and they are similar for example the main image uses 3 people and in each magazine they are both making contact with the audience, another thing they both have the  barcode on the front cover and they both use sell lines such as ‘Plus’ and Free’ and name other artist as well as the main focus band.
