Evaluation 7: Looking back
at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression
from it to the full product?
From doing the preliminary task I have learnt a lot on how
to create a magazine, by using Photoshop I would say that, that’s my biggest
improvement. As you can see from my front covers there is a big different in
both as I have learnt how to use Photoshop better and the skills you need to us
for it. Using a style model is the biggest thing you need to think about when
creating a magazine because you want to make it as professional as you can make
it look. My front cover for my preliminary task is very plan and boring and the
colour background edit is very poor whereas on my main task front cover of my
music magazine it has a lot more detail and looks more like a magazine due to
all the things I have added to it. The way the photos have been taken are
different as on the main task it connects with the audience more, also, the
text included, the colours and conventions I have included.
Looking at the layouts on my contents page again they are
both very different. The images on my contents page are only two small ones
whereas on my main magazine I have one main image, which connects with the
audience, and then smaller images. My main magazine contents page is a lot more
full like a magazine should be. I have
used a lot more conventions on it and by looking at a style model I have learnt
how to do the layout a lot more. On my main magazine there are no spaces
whereas on my preliminary task magazine there are a lot which makes it boring
and not stand out. I have also realised that it is hard to tell that it is a
magazine because on the contents page and the front cover it has no barcode or price.
